Kane Parish Pound has now been cleaned up and the outline of the walls has been restored. The entrance to the Souterrain, which is within the walls of the Pound, has been protected and has had a cover fitted. This work was carried out with the assistance of Peace II Louth County Council-led Task Force.
LOUTH COUNTY ARCHIVES SERVICE is currently conducting an oral history archive project throughout the county. Many people believe their lives, their day-to-day lived experiences are now worthy of permanent remembrance. As a result, an invaluable and irreplaceable source of local historical knowledge is lost to present and future generations. The oral history project is designed to save a part of the communities past and to help record the social history of the county through the voices of its inhabitants. We are seeking people to participate by allowing us to record their memories and experiences of the parish. If you are interested, or know of anybody who might be, please contact Russell on 042-933 9387
If you are reading this in some distant part of the globe and you have something to interest the Archives Service please send by email to archive@louthcoco.ie or you may use this website and we will pass it on.
